I bring an initiative never seen. This is a list of the ten best films of the year. do not know why, this year, like a character from Nick Hornby, I have entered the urge to write lists. I propose you to join this activity as harmless as useless. Conditions: feature films should be released in Spain in 2010 but have been produced in another year (if you have questions, search the Internet release date in Spain, it is easy to find). Publiquéis Sumaré the scores in your comments on the post in Bloguionistas (10 points to the "best picture" that you choose, 9 to the second and so on) and hang your list in my next post
Come on, in reverse order, with my films, 2010. It is obviously quite subjective order and would love to discuss with you between bites the yolk nougat and drinks champagne toast. 10 " writer " written and directed by Roman Polanski, adapting a novel by Thomas Harris (who also co-wrote the screenplay). Although a premise and interesting characters are wasted on a plot of a conventional thriller, the story of this "black" hired to write the memoirs of a disgraced prime minister is so wonderfully directed that one is absolutely seduced by the elegance and the accuracy of staging. One can not help establish comparisons between the prime minister (apparently inspired by Tony Blair) isolated in a house and harassed by the press and the situation that Polanski himself has suffered this year.
9 " The Silence of Lorna " ("Le silence de Lorna") directed and written by Jean Pierre and Luc Dardenne. The film "social" and the black kind are much closer than we usually remember. The Dardenne go a step further in that direction. Perhaps not his best film, but it seems to show a slight change in style. I think that for the first time in their films, "The Silence of Lorna" includes a few musical notes diegetic not on a final unforgettable images. Like the junkie character played by Jérémie Renier restored, one of the most memorable I've seen this year in the cinema. Oh, by the way, the film includes a dramatic ellipse.
8 "Fantastic Mr. Fox" directed by Wes Anderson. Adaptation of a Roald Dahl story by Anderson and Noah Baumbach. A wonderful story, fun and flexible, made with traditional animation and laborious. After seeing one thinks, as I said Jonas Trueba in blog, maybe Wes Anderson, with such characters as inscrutable and seemingly expressionless, always has been directing animated films, though, instead of a fox, Bill Murray who are playing. Anyway, I think this is one of the best he has left.
7 " A Prophet" by Jacques Audiard. Malik, a young man of North African origin, go to prison being a felon in three in the room. No vigilance much to say that in the end, the guy turns into a capo. What is really impressive is how he does and how it tells Malik Audiard, one of the writers (this film co-wrote with three other writers) and most energetic directors in film today. Still gives me goose bumps remembering the scene of the car. No, I can not tell more. Pilladla DVD, dischargeable, do whatever. Is essential. 6. "
" written and directed by Rodrigo García. Not the kind of movie I usually see in movies. A priori, it may seem a TV movie estate, but in my opinion there is nothing further from reality, "Mothers and Daughters" is a film written and directed very elegant, poignant without ever falling into sentimentality. A human film, which will always be conflict there, when social networks disappear 3D technology: girls abandoned by their parents to come against the world, overbearing mothers, women who had to take refuge in solitude ... 5. " A Serious " written and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen, for me, one of the best movies of these brothers. A free adaptation of the story of Job set in the sixties in the suburbs of a city of Minnesota. Delirious, caustic and at the same time, disturbing. I think that, like many films of the Coen, at bottom, is a story about the absurd. Existentialist cinema but also immensely fun. There are not many times you enjoyed the film more delusional episode that the recorded message on the teeth of one of the characters. And that amazing final, sharp and bright.
4. "Two Lovers " directed by James Gray. Loosely based of "White Nights" of Dostoyevsky, co-written by director and screenwriter Ric Menello. Joaquin Phoenix, a psychologically fragile type, falls for her neighbor, Gwyneth Paltrow. He despises a good girl who loves him. Gwyneth, by contrast, is in love with another guy who certainly does not seem so enthusiastic about it. We all know how these stories usually end, but James Gray told by so fascinates us as if we had not ever heard. Not many directors make believable a story as romantic and classic in these godless times.
Certified Copy "written and directed by Abbas Kiarostami. The story of a couple reunited known or unknown or feigns or pretends to be reunited ... well, I do not know exactly what you have in hand these two strangers walk by mature Tuscany but even without quite understand it, his game of seduction, appearances, that look fake and original copies more valuable than the original fascinated me. In some cities, "certified copy" is still in the lineup. Please do not fail to see . 2. " Social Network
1. " Canino "directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (Filippou Efthymis written). A film about a fascinating and sickening overprotective parents that their children locked in his house. With a low budget, a wicked sense of humor and boundless imagination, Lanthimos achieves a kind of realistic fable that serves as a simple tale of "awareness" but also as a portrait of the times in fear that we live. Haneke has been mentioned as an influence. I, fortunately, I seem to see much more of Buñuel, Buñuel's best, this Greek film I advise you not to get lost.
There are many other movies that I could include. I have not seen yet " Toy Story 3 " or " Machete," which some friends with good taste include among their favorites. Nor, of course, some releases that distributors are saved for Christmas. Many other films have been in the lobby of my list: " Exit Through the gift shop
"a comedy with a unique rhythm and grace," will meet the man of your dreams "which contains a few magical moments and memorable classic style of Woody Allen, " I am the love " pompous and irritating, but also attractive and formally exquisite. "Uncle Boonmee recalling their past lives
especially difficult for me to fail to include movies I've seen though have not been released here (some, certainly never will). It is becoming increasingly absurd and frustrating, in this globalized world, having to wait months to see (a shortened version of) " Carlos " by Olivier Assayas or resign themselves to not premiere here, " Le père month enfants "by Mia Hansen Love or Greenberg " Noah Baumbach. Yes I've seen them, but has been descargándomelas (illegally "?) the Internet. Some of them undoubtedly would be in the list I have listed. However, in order to adhere to these standards I've set (released in Spain in 2010) have chosen not to make exceptions.
